Two video works by TAMK students got selected into the film program of European Media Art Festival Osnabrück. The Murder Chairs by Nalle Mielonen and Swallow Your Fears by Laura Rytkönen will be presented in Student Campus film programs on the weekend of 27.4. - 1.5. The program holds film screenings, performances, opportunities to meet the artists and Transit – European Young Talent exhibition. This is the 30th time the annual festival is held. There were over 2200 contributions to the film program from all over the world.

Some 140 people visited communal animation project Family Act in Ikuinen Gallery during the weekend. In three days time, a family story was animated and shot in the gallery space. The gallery was open for public on Saturday and Sunday. The people visiting the gallery became a part of the animation, as appearing and disappearing communities.

TAMK Art and Media (TTVO) makes now its 20th appearance at Tampere International Film Festival. Students, above all film and television students, are taking care of different jobs at the festival, and a high number of study points are made in the seminars and workshops.

The second 3 Inch Canvas Exhibition for Art on Mobiles is being held March 22nd to 27th at the Jyväskylä Art Museum as part of the Live Herring ’11 event. The 3 Inch Canvas is introducing works by eight art students from TAMK. The artists are Heidi Hemmilä, Alpo Nummelin, Laura Laukkanen, Tiina Lehikoinen, Jaana Ristola, Laura Rytkönen, Heta Tepponen and Jenni Yppärilä.

4m² -project is a pinhole camera built by four Fine Art students. A year ago the camera turned Ruoholahdentori marketplace upside down in Helsinki. Now the camera opens in Tampere, in the middle of Laukontori. The scenery inside the camera is recognizable yet alien. The shifting, changing, dimming and brightening sunlight paints the outside world on the inner walls of the camera. The camera doesn’t record anything, the only way to experience it is to step inside.

The sixth Reikäreuna Film Festival will take place from September 9-12 2010 in Orivesi, Finland.
The Film Competition received 104 entries, out of which 19 domestic short films were presented to the jury. A selection of the other entries will be presented at four thematically organised screenings.

Yes, we are nervous - but only until the speeches are over!
The second half of the ERO graduation show of our Fine Art students had a cheerful, welcoming and international vernissage at TR1 Kunsthalle on Friday, the opening day of Tampere Art Factory (TAF). The first half opened on May 4 at Art Centre Mältinranta. (Read the story)Mediums divide the graduating artists into two rough categories depending on whether they use their hands or machines to create their works. This difference is brought under your eyes by dividing the artworks themselves into two exhibitions according to technique. TR1 Kunshalle shows this year only photography, moving image and media art. Artworks in the fields of painting, drawing and sculpture are on exhibit in Art Center Mältinranta.
