DETVET project was last week given the Highest Quality Award in the category of Leonardo da Vinci projects in 2009 - 2011 by the EU Lifelong Learning Lithuanian National Agency.


In her message to the project partners Loreta Staškūnienė, coordinator of DETVET wrote: "This award gives a lot of inspiration and stimuli for the new challenges, new applications, new cooperation."

DETVET (Development of Educational Techniques in Vocational Education and Training) was an EU funded partnership programme. TAMK's role in this project was to share its expertise in using Social Media in Education. TAMK was represented by its Educational Technology Center and Degree Programme in Media. Other project partners come from Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, Lithuania and Sweden.

Our Media degree students and Media exchange students have been involved in 50 (Fifty!) design and development projects this spring. Fifteen of them have been part of Demola Academy (Read the story about the pitching contest).

Some projects were present at Media Spring Expo last week. The expo worked in two ways - there was a project poster exhibition, and also students showcasing their projects.

This spring we decided that the students can make the project reports in
poster format instead of the traditional heap of paper.

TAMK hosted the last meeting of the DETVET project this week at Finlayson Campus. DETVET (Development of Educational Techniques in Vocational Education and Training) is an EU funded partnership programme. TAMK's role in this project is to share its expertise in using SOcial Media in Education. TAMK is represented by ist Educational Technology Center and Degree Programme in Media. Other project partners come from Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Lithuania and Sweden.

The project has had six meetings, all partners have hosted one meeting. After the Tampere meeting partners finish their reports. An electronic book will share the project conclusions with everybody interested.

Last weekend the EVA-project was kicked off in Cluj, the capital of Transylvania in Romania. Our aim is to build the campus of visual culture studies as a pilot of European Virtual Academy over the next two years. We will have courses, library, labs and forums in the digital world, taking advantage of social media tools and Open Source software.

The purpose of the competition is to encourage makers of digital media to generate ideas and develop new and innovative ubimedia products & services. Ubimedia means technology that is embedded in its surroundings. The word “Ubi” comes from the Latin word “ubique” which means “everywhere”. The competition was open to all kinds of artists, practitioners, and industries and the total prize sum is 7.000 Euros.

Demola, Finlayson behind the taf (Tampere Art Factory) banner
The Summer School for Students and Young Designers is to be held in Tampere, Finland, from 30th of August till 3rd of September in 2010 at the DEMOLA Centre of Innovation. The Engage Summer school will tackle issues related to game design as well as how to embed curricular topics in the game design. Külli Hansen and Raul Oreshkin, representatives of Tartu Centre for Creative Industries were guests of Creative Tampere for two days to learn about creative institutions in Tampere.
