Fine Arts students Christmas sale in Mediapolis wed-thu 19.- 20.11 at 10-15

Ikuinen Gallerys traditional Christmas sale is arranged in an untraditional way this year. The most notable change is the new address. The gallery has moved from TAMKs department of Media and Fine Arts in Finlayson to Tohloppi. The gallery has no space of its own anymore, so the sale will be held in pop-up spirit in the TAMK lobby (to the right from the front doors).

Not all traditions have been shelved: the sale products are as magnificent as always: art, cards, handicrafts etc. You are warmly welcome to explore and make purchases for both yourself and Santa Clause.

Ps. Unfortunately we don't take “plastic money” , so please remember to bring cash with you.

Opening on Mon 31th April 16-18

Pixels, extra lives and self-portraits.
The works in the exhibition derive their content from the bitmap graphics of the gaming world, the childhood spent beside the screen and the identity problems of a growing player. They consist of drawings, plastic bead mosaics, prints and a game installation.

Timo Höyssä is a draftsman whose self-portrait series examines the player's identity – to which extent the internal world of games is able to merge with the physical aspects of life?
Ilai Elias Lehto multimaterialist interested in installations. His constructed game world includes pixelated aspects of reality and fantasy, and exposes the player to think about the preconditions and absurdities found in the gaming world and in life.

Both artists are TAMK Fine Arts second year students.

Helmi omakuva! - exhibition and workshops 4.3.-8.3.2014

Almost every artist creates a serie of self-portraits in some point of their life. My moment came now.
All art pieces in the exhibition are made out of hama beads. I study my various sides and love towards colors and handcrafting. Many pieces are like canvases but the materiality of beads brings also sculptural multidimensionality.
Helmi omakuva! - exhibition is open Tue 4.3.- Sat 8.3.2014 in Ikuinen Galleria (Finlaysoninkuja 3, 33210 Tampere). Artist is having workshops, where you can get to know (or fall in love again) to the world of hama beads, on Friday 7.3. and Saturday 8.3. Material payment 2€ (cash).

Laura Lehtinen is a fine artist who studies in Tampere University of Applied Sciences and has also gained art education from Estonian Academy of Arts and Orivesi Institute.

Homeless
Emmi Kallio and Tarleena Öhman
18.-29.11.2013

Something is wrong, but what? Home is a distorted gathering of objects, an animal molting its skin. Someone has bit out a piece of reality and spit out another. Wallpapers are rolling off the walls and mirrors show only a half reflection. Broken cups are leaking plaster and shoes are growing grass. There is a lump of cat hair purring on the bed. The shapes of the furniture are recognizable and yet there is something odd in them, as if they have forgotten what to be. Something is missing, something has broken.

Emmi Kallio and Tarleena Öhman are second year fine arts students at Tampere University of Applied Sciences. Koditon is a study of the encounter of the public and the private space, as they build in the gallery room a home without a home.

Tall tales and true stories (2013)
Sofi Häkkinen

Ikuinen Galleria 5.11-15.11.2013

The drawings and paintings in the series portrait different moments. Quick thoughts, hasty touches, passing feelings. The media supports the idea of a swift glimpse of a moment, captured on paper so the viewer can always return to that one instant that was so important.

Sofi Häkkinen is a second year fine arts student in Tampere University of Applied Sciences. Her main media is drawing and painting. Her work is mostly based on the conflicts and feelings, as well as certain cravings and obsessions between two people. As a starting point Häkkinen uses a mixture of memories, moments, faint touches that meant something big and easily forgotten glances.

The first year students of Visual arts
April 17 - 26
Mon-Fri 12 am to 4 pm
Finlaysoninkuja 3

The new students of fall 2012 present themselves in a collaborative exhibition K12.
It is the first warning sign of a new generation of critical, brave and independent visual artists.
Art and studying arts give room to explore and question things. Rather than prohibiting and excluding certain topics, in the field of arts there is room for discussion.
Our journey to become artists has just begun. After three years this bunch will showcase their works in their final exhibition of the Bachelor's programme.

The exhibition consists of paintings, sculptures, pictures, video works, drawings and mixed media. In addition to the gallery, the exhibition takes over "Pesurumpu", the lobby in the entrance of the campus, the cafe and the staircase.

Ikuinen gallery and K12 take part in the Pirkanmaa Art orienteering 20.-21.4.2013 by target number 57.

Art students presented in the exhibition are: Joni Ahonen, Heikki Harmainen, Heini Hiltunen, Karoliina Huuskonen, Sofi Häkkinen, Timo Höyssä, Lasse Juuti, Emmi Kallio, Kaisa Kallio, Katri Kempas, Merituuli Laatu, Joanna Lamberg, Sakari Larjo, Ilai Elias Lehto, Ruut Luoto, Jerker Ramberg, Sanna Saarreharju, Ida Sokka, Ville Erkki Tarke, Senni Uusikartano, Sanni Weckman, Tarleena Öhman.

We need food for living/in order to survive. This exhibition leads us to the garbage bin. Eating habits and experiences come to life on paper plates. The dried scraps and traces of food act as canvases that have been continued with paint and markers. The marks on the plates give the artist a lead from the past, and with the help of a brush the abandoned plate, state of stillness, comes to life.

In the plates that I have collected the marks of dining are juxtaposed to the traces of paint, the used plate and palette become equivalent, the food and its leftovers seek to find a mutual form and material feel. The act of painting reflects the need that is similar to the need for food. From food and pleasure derive themes of fine dining and maximalism, which is portrayed using paint. This art piece has aspects of art history and tradition, where food, portraits, canvases plates and recycling play an integral part.

Mr. Juuti is a painter. Mr. Juuti paints, because he paints. Simple as that.
