We have class meetings once a week to coordinate, follow up on budget plans, divide tasks and plan the layout of the exhibition.

It is that time of the year when things start heating up. And not just the weather.

The class of 2014 from the Fine Art path are blazing a trail as they leave TAMK and enter the art scene/world.

Every student has been putting their projects together during their final year. It is time to display the assorted collection of works. Our topics range from endangered species to cultural challenges; our techniques from paintings to virtual reality; our moods from heavy to light; and our tones from melancholic to ironic.

The exhibition will last until the 9th of May and the opening will be on the 19th of April, in the Himmelblau Gallery at 17:00. Everyone is warmly welcome to join!

Follow our website for regular updates and a closer look at each artist and their works: www.hotfutures2018.com

The before picture. some of the empty space we will be building our exhibition in.

As part of the Introduction to Applied Fine Art course with Fanni Niemi-Junkola, first-year students from the Fine Art study path of the Media and Arts programme visited the land artworks in Pinsiö. These works are part of the Strata landworks.

Tree Mountain is a site-specific artwork designed by Agnes Denes. It is a steep gravel hill and there are about 10,600 pine trees in the artwork. Climbing to the top takes 2-3 minutes. At the pinnacle, there is space for about seven people to stand comfortably. The huge amount of snow added to the overall magical atmosphere of the work.

Up and Under by Nancy Holt involves concrete tunnels and connected earthworks that can be climbed on. One can go inside (under), or climb on top (up), and thus the title. The snow added an extra layer of interactivity and also highlighted the inside/outside areas of the piece.

Video works of TAMK´s first year fine art students took part in Speculum Artium / DigitalBigScreen- video festival in Slovenia 14.-16.9.  - Barbara Jazbec´s video Mind´s eye won the 2. prize!

Speculum Artium is one of the biggest art and science festivals in Slovenia. The 9th festival is held in Delavski Dom Trbovlje which is the central cultural institution in the municipality of Trbovlje, Slovenia.  Inside Speculum Artium there is an International video festival called DIGITALBIGSCREEN. The DigitalBigScreen festival enables video screening on a big, cinematographic screen, offering a completely different context to the usual ones at projections of artistic videos (room projectors, TV-screens).
Thirty-five authors from around the globe responded to the international call by sending in 42 video works. The expert board consisting of Marko Glavač M.F.A., Zoran Poznič M.F.A., Andrej Uduč and Špela Pavli M.A., have chosen seventeen authors who had qualified into the competitive selection.

The video works from TAMK were created during the courses of Moving Image study module.
