The annual Entrance Exam to IMP, our Degree Programme in Media took place this week. Invitations went to 61 best applicants and 57 of them participated in the one day exam on Tuesday and Wednesday. Candidates represented Austria, Colombia, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Iran, Latvia, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, Taiwan, UK, and the USA.

University of Salford, long-time exchange partner of TTVO, had a grand opening of its brand new MediaCityUK campus when the English royalties paid a visit. Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh were shown a piece of digital future created by Salford students. The visit was part of Queen’s Diamond Jubilee -tour to celebrate Her Majesty’s 60th year in reign.

After easter we began the inspirational Le Dernier Cri workshop in a relaxed atmosphere with Pakito Bolino and Marie-Pierre Brunel.


Students of Tamk and artists already working in the field are participating in the workshop. Old drawings and sketchbooks have been dug out, from which new art is created in the spirit of Le Dernier Cri - using exaggerations, absurd uncompromised bursts and  fast tempo. The works are printed with serigraphy into artist books  and some of the graphics will be exhibited in Gallery Rajatila.

When it is a sunny day like today you go rather to an outdoor than indoor art exhibition. There are always a lot of sculptures you can admire but in Tampere we have also a wonderful exhibition of images and photographs attached on the electricity distribution cabinets. The exhibition arranged by Tampere Museum of Contemporary Art is between the railway station and Hämeenpuisto. The exhibition runs until September and is open 24/7! No admission fee!

Iron Sky is the biggest ever Finnish film production. The science fiction comedy directed by Timo Vuorensola has already been sold to 80 countries. Iron Sky premiered on 11 February 2012 at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival, in the Panorama Special section. It will be released in Finland on 4 April and in Germany on 5 April.
The Premiere Gala was last week Monday in Tampere.
