Swan Lake Second Prize to Vesa and Hanne - Postcard from Mittweida

Last week two visual design students at TAMK School of Art and Media, Vesa Jokinen and Hanne Zenjuga, travelled to Swan Lake Award Gala. Their animation "It Dwells in the Dephts was one of the three nominees in the Animations gategory of the contest. The animation visualises "The Smell of Rain" composed by Kathryn Toyama.

Vesa and Hanne send a "postcard" to our blog in Finnish. Here is a translation of the posting:

"We spent two days in Mittweida, Germany, participating in the Swanlake Moving Image and Music event. We were on of the three nominees in the Animation category, we finally got the second price.

The Awards gala was overall well organised, and there was a lot of interactive elements involving the participants in the programme. One example: the Public Award winner vote was done clapping.

The trip was fine, and we got a lot of positive fedback for our animation, although we did not win.

We spent some time in Mittweida with the other nominees from various parts of Europe. The atmosphere was truly international. The local students showed us around in Mittweida and the beautiful surroundings. The City of Mittweida is small but idyllic. To sum up: The trip was very awarding, offering a lot of nice memories and new friends."

With best regards, Vesa & Hanne"
